Masterclasses
An important part of the mission of Good Beats is to expand opportunities for musicians through supporting music education. One of the ways in which Good Beats helps provide these opportunities is by funding masterclasses. In January, Good Beats funded a masterclass led by the newly appointed saxophone professor at the world-renowned Paris Conservatory of Music, Nicolas Arsenijevic. Together with our friend Doug O’Connor, a adjunct professor at the Peabody institute of John Hopkins University, three of Doug's students performed (accompanied by pianist Lise Charrin), with feedback and insight provided by the very special guest. Good Beats has committed to fund a masterclass each semester for Doug's cohort of students.
What is a Masterclass?
A masterclass is an interactive learning session where students perform in front of a master musician, who then provides invaluable feedback on technical skills, stage presence, and interpretation.
